Here are some tips to make your Washington, DC employee retreat a success:
Work and Have Fun at your Washington, DC Employee Retreat
Just because it’s an employee retreat doesn’t mean everyone needs to be completely focused on work. Encourage your workers to connect and learn more about one another. At Pocono Valley, we have 101+ fun activities from water sports to ropes courses and zip lines.
People are able to bond better when they have the opportunity to explore the outdoors, share a meal, or simply laugh with one another.
During retreat activities, though, don’t be scared to keep on subject. While you should encourage your team to have fun, you should also set limits. This may be accomplished by setting aside time during the day for everyone to go out on their own and unwind.
Follow Up with Employees
You must follow up with your staff after a good retreat. Firm getaways require a lot of planning and are a significant financial commitment for the company, so don’t act as if the retreat never happened when you return to work on Monday.
Employees will be talking about the event, so take advantage of it to talk about what went well and what didn’t. What would they do differently at the next retreat? What would they want to do if they could do it all over again? Is there anything else that came to mind after the retreat that you think might be beneficial to the organization or team?
You’re building a healthy corporate culture when you emphasize the items completed during the retreat and offer proper recognition to individuals who stood out.
The process of organizing your first business retreat is overwhelming, but the result is well worth it. Your workers will feel renewed, revitalized, and more invested in the firm than they have in the past.
Create a poll to gather comments and suggestions for a staff retreat
Ask your staff what is important to cover. What are the most important things for us to address right now? In the past, which sessions did they find the most or least engaging? You may then designate team members to lead the sessions that they are most interested in (more on this below). Even if it doesn’t make sense for them to lead that session or bring it up at retreat, it’s still a wonderful opportunity to learn about the team’s issues so you can address them when the time comes. This pre-retreat poll is also used to determine what foods individuals would prefer, which may make or break a retreat (only half joking).
Washington, DC Employee Retreat Sessions
Everyone at the staff retreat can conduct a session if it is suitable. This is a fantastic opportunity for employees to put their presenting and leadership abilities to the test. Because this is obviously more difficult with a bigger group, we don’t need everyone to lead a complete session. Consider placing a few folks in a group or pairing them up and having them lead a session together. If each individual is in charge of arranging a component of the staff retreat, they will feel more involved in it. Depending on the session, it may be beneficial to group people who don’t normally work together in order to foster teamwork and minimize silos. If someone is new to the organization and doesn’t know much about it yet, we have them organize a game night or a group meal.
