A school retreat is a significant event in the life of a young child or an adolescent. It may provide children with the opportunity to form or strengthen lifetime friendships, acquire perspective, learn useful new skills, and gain a better understanding of their classmates, teachers, and parents. While there are many things that must come together for a great school retreat, one of the most crucial is the retreat location you choose. It can be the foundation for a good retreat if you choose wisely and strive to get the most out of its advantages.

Pocono Student Retreat Benefits

There are many benefits to having your student retreat in the Poconos. Pocono Valley has all the amenities your school needs to make a successful trip. Here are some of the top benefits from having a school retreat:

  1. Rest and rejuvenation – Teenagers, like everyone else, require time to rest and revitalize before tackling the demands of the academic year. A retreat provides an opportunity for people to contemplate, set personal objectives, reduce stress, and find a sense of serenity. With the rise in anxiety and depression among teenagers, it is becoming increasingly important to give opportunities for unwinding and learning stress-reduction techniques, such as retreats.
  2. Learn about cooperation and leadership – Most retreats provide opportunities for students to work in groups and develop leadership abilities. Students may be asked to organize a project or lead an activity, such as a sport or physical exercise. Receiving this type of leadership training in middle or high school can help students prepare for college while also teaching them real-world management skills.
  3. Try new things and create new interests – Retreats usually provide plenty of possibilities to try new things and develop new hobbies.
  4. Learn new abilities and improve confidence — Students in private schools can use retreat time to unwind and learn new talents without the stress of grades. This leads to increased self-assurance and a readiness to attempt new things, as well as increased self-esteem and the tenacity and determination to achieve one’s full potential.

Pennsylvania Fun Facts

The Flag of the State

The official Pennsylvania State Flag, a gold-fringed banner with the Coat of Arms embroidered on a blue field, was approved by the General Assembly in 1799. Some Pennsylvania regiments flew battle banners that were based like the American flag, but with our Coat of Arms in place of the block of stars in the corner during the Civil War. When the General Assembly proceeded to standardize the State Flag in 1907, this type of artistic freedom was discouraged.

The Seal of the State

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Seal, which was authorized by the General Assembly in 1791, is a mark of validity that proves that proclamations, commissions, and other state papers are lawful and legitimate. The face of the Seal has symbols that are identical to those seen on the Coat of Arms, but without the supporting horses, and is most commonly used as an impression. The other side, or counterseal, depicts Liberty as a lion overpowering Tyranny, with the warning “Both Can’t Survive.”

Ruffed Grouse is the state bird.

The plump, red-brown bird with the feathered legs was a staple of the food supply for the early settlers. The Ruffed Grouse, often known as a partridge, is still a common sight in Pennsylvania’s woodlands. The date was chosen on June 22, 1931.
