How far will you go? If you’re new to camping, especially with kids, you may want to stay as close to home as possible. At Pocono Valley, we are only 90 minutes from NYC and Philadelphia.

Do you have a preferred destination? Camping can be a significant event or merely a place to stay while traveling. Or do you want to get as far away as possible? The ideal camping excursions include days spent discovering new hiking paths and campfire dinner. At Pocono Valley Resort, we have virtually endless recreational opportunities from petal boats to ziplines, fishing, beach volleyball, a golf driving range and more.

In the Poconos, we have ideal weather almost year-round. Weather should be an important factor in your decision process. In some regions, elevation may also have a role. It takes longer to climb mountain roads. Even in the summer, the weather can be rather diverse.

Choosing A Campground By Amenities

While we have a large culinary staff and prepare meals to suit everyone’s tastes, in some campgrounds, not even water is available. At Pocono Valley, you can have fun all day without leaving the campground. Pay attention to this so you can design your camping checklist accordingly.

 What to Look for in a Large Campground or Campsite

Look for available sites (tent, RV, or even cabins or yurts). At Pocono Valley we offer cabins with a private bathroom/shower in each. Look for scheduled or nearby events (historic sites, trails for hiking or biking, and lakes for fishing, boating, or swimming). Also, look for:

Swimming (in pools, lakes, or creeks). We have a 40-acre lake with a dock and 2 Olympic-sized pools.

Recreational amenities. At Pocono Valley we have, to name a few, pools, tennis courts, volley ball courts (sand and hard), basketball, baseball fields, Gaga ball courts, golf driving range and putting course, workout rooms, large meeting spaces and more.

Pocono Valley for Family Reunions

Each family reunion has its own purpose. In one family, it’s a yearly tradition to bring young relatives together despite their distance. In another, an ill relative wants to visit everyone one final time. Some families plan reunions around key milestones like wedding anniversaries or the matriarch and patriarch’s birthdays.

An ideal family reunion would allow distant relatives to reunite and meet new family members, such as babies and spouses. Pocono Valley offers the perfect setting for famlies to reconnect. We have a beautiful 350-acre campus and plenty of wide-open spaces for picnics, sports, and games.

Pocono Valley is a terrific location to reconnect with loved ones who have moved away or life got in the way. Families can relax by one of the 2 heated Olympic-sized pools or play volleyball on the lakefront beach. Some families fill in time by fishing in our private lake, using our golf driving range, putt-putt course, or enjoying our ropes courses or zip lines.
